INTERNATIONAL YOUTH WORK in Hyvärilä
International youth activities, exchanges and voluntary work are of major importance at Hyvärilä. Various international youth projects are coordinated and promoted by Hyvärilä Youth Centre. These have included several European youth exchanges, seminars, youth camps and workshops, where participants across Europe and beyond have participated. Hyvärilä is active user of EU´s Youth in Action -programme, and member of the EURODESK, PLATFORM and ENYC networks. Hyvärilä provides also international youth information services for the youth in the region. Besides European cooperation, also cross -border cooperation, Nordic cooperation and the Baltic Sea cooperation are of Hyväriläs interest. The goal is to improve the internationalization of the Finnish youth, as well as to provide unforgettable non-formal learning experiences for the visiting international youth groups.

The purpose of all the international youth work is to promote acceptance of difference, feeling of community, cultural understanding, cultural awareness, and intercultural dialoguee.
Hyvärilä Youth Centre is an excellent destination for international youth camps, workshops and other international youth events. Our professional staff and youth workers welcome international youth to Hyvärilä!

PROJECTS 2010 -2011
In Hyvärilä Youth Centre, several international projects took place in years 2010-2011. Projects were supported by the EU`s Youth in Action programme. Hyvärilä has hostsed seminars, training courses and youth exchanges. Here are some examples of the projects.

Your life is a Unique Story- Training course on
GRASSROOTS COMICS 11.-17.10. 2011

This training course intoduced a method of grassroots comics and how to use it in youth work. By organizing this training course we wanted to encourage young people to take initiatives in their local communities and influence on things by using this widely used method of comic making. In this course participants learnt how to use comics and storytelling with youth. One needs only a paper, pen and story to tell. Grassroots method was used also for promoting Youth in Action program among the youngsters around the Europe.

Trainer of the course was art educator Meri Mort. (www.merimort.com). Participants came from eight different European countries and this training course was supported by European Comissions Youth in Action programme. From the link you can find the album that was created during the course!
